[줄거리]
1943년 제2차 세계대전 중, 영국군 2천 여명이 그리스 에게해의 케로스 섬에 고립되고, 6일 안에 탈출하지 못하면 독일군에 의해 전멸당할 위험에 처한다. 케로스 섬의 길목을 막고 있는 나바론 섬은 전파로 통제되는 최신 레이더 장비를 갖춘 2대의 대포가 있는 난공불락의 요새. 연합군은 나바론 섬에 최정예 특공대를 투입하여 대포를 폭파한 후, 6대의 전함을 보내 고립된 영국군을 구출하기 위한 일생일대의 작전을 세운다. 나바론 섬의 가파른 절벽을 오르기 위해 암벽 등반가였던 말로리 대위, 폭파 전문가 밀러, 그리스 레지스탕스 출신인 스타브로 등 6명의 특공대가 급파되지만, 가는 도중 거대한 태풍을 만나 배가 전복되고 만다. 이들은 식량과 의약품을 잃고 가까스로 섬에 도착하지만 설상가상으로 특공대의 총책임자 프랭클린 소령이 절벽에서 떨어져 다리가 부러지는 중상을 입게 되는데…
