[ 줄거리 ]
어느 날 죽은 시체들이 알 수 없는 이유로 깨어난다. ‘바버라’는 오빠와 함께 엄마의 묘에 갔다가 시체의 갑작스런 공격을 받게 되고 가까스로 인근 농가에 숨어든다. 시체들의 공격을 피해 도망가던 중 자동차에 기름이 부족해 농가로 오게 된 ‘벤’을 포함한 일곱 명의 외지인들은 낯선 농가에 갇히게 되고, 밖에서는 시체들이 살아있는 사람들의 살을 뜯어먹으려 끊임없이 침입해온다. 인종, 계급, 성별, 나이 등이 각기 다른 이들은 고립된 농가 안에서 서로 다투게 되고, 절망과 공포로 인해 갈등은 극에 달한다. 시체들이 농가로 점점 몰려들어 오면서 공격 또한 더욱 거세지는 와중에, 이들은 차에 기름을 채우러 인근 주유소까지 탈출을 시도하는데…
