[ 줄거리 ]
인류학자 ‘케일’은 다큐멘터리 감독인 ‘테리’ 및 그녀의 연출팀과 함께 아마존 열대 우림의 ‘시리샤마’ 부족을 찾아 나선다. 시리샤마 부족은 거대한 육식 뱀 ‘아나콘다’를 신으로 숭배한다는 신비로운 전설의 원주민 부족. 아마존을 항해하던 일행은 폭우가 쏟아지던 밤 난파된 보트에서 구조를 요청하는 ‘서론’을 만나게 된다. 아마존은 물론 시리샤마 부족에 대해서도 잘 알고 있다는 서론은 가이드를 자청하고 일행에 합류한다. 항로에 대해 케일과 서론의 의견 마찰이 있은 후, 케일은 잠수 중 질식사할 위기에서 가까스로 살아나지만 의식을 잃게 된다. 케일을 병원에 데려가야 한다는 구실로 서론은 항로를 마음대로 변경하고 일행을 협박하는 등 배를 장악하려는 속내를 드러내고 이 와중에 선장 ‘마테오’마저 종적도 없이 사라져 버린다. 연이은 사고 발생 후 일행들은 뒤늦게 서론의 정체와 음모을 알게 되지만 배는 이미 아나콘다의 본거지로 들어서고 거대한 아나콘다의 위협이 서서히 다가오는데...
