신중현과의 협업이 담긴 이문세의 유일 앨범
신중현의 작품을 노래한 이문세의 유일 앨범으로, A면에 수록된 5곡 중 [신비한 세계], [그때 그랬어야], [가버리고 말았네] 3곡과 B면 타이틀곡 [너무나 많은 날들은]까지 총 4곡은 신중현이 창작한 신곡이다. 60-70년대 신중현 곡과는 달리 비트 있고 경쾌한 분위기의 신곡들이다. 기성 히트곡 중에서 선곡된 [나는 너를]과 [아름다운 강산] 2곡도 업 템포 분위기로 새롭게 편곡되었다. B면에는 전작에서 히트한 [나는 행복한 사람], [그대], [파랑새], [오마니] 등이 선곡되었다.
신중현 창작곡이 절반 넘게 수록된 이 음반은 뒤늦게 수집가들의 표적이 되어 세 가지 버전이 혼재할 정도로 판매에 호조를 보였다. 제작사와 커버 디자인 그리고 수록곡, 제작일은 모든 버전이 동일하지만 음반번호는 제각기 다르다. 초반으로 추정되는 킹레코드 버전의 음반번호는 ‘KR-0107’이고, 재반으로 보이는 서라벌레코드 버전의 번호는 ‘SBK-0038’, 삼반이 확실한 현대음향 버전의 번호는 ‘HK-0038'이다. 음반 라벨의 디자인도 차이가 있다. 킹과 서라벌은 검정바탕에 회색 줄로 장식된 같은 디자인이지만 회사 로고가 다르다. 현대음향의 라벨에는 이문세의 얼굴사진이 장식되어 있다. 현대음향 버전의 재킷 뒷면은 수록 곡과 가사로 디자인된 초재반과는 달리 주차장에서 촬영한 이문세 사진이 장식되었다. 이번에 재발매된 음반은 킹레코드 버전으로 재발매 되었다. /최규성 대중문화평론가. 한국대중가요연구소 대표
